So far, it seems that the 350 has a smaller bore, but the 400 and 455 share the same bores, but different strokes. In addition, the crank journals are different sizes. That said, the aftermarket provides stroker kits that bolt into a 400 to make it a 455.

Aug 22, 2009 · The 350's 5.7" rods are typically used, although a 6" rod can also be used (the factory 400 small block rod was 5.565"). A custom piston with higher wrist pin location is required, but these are now common place. Long ago, a 350 piston was used but had the top machined down.
